The Great Fire of Sutton.

In June 2015 one warm summers evening a compost heap had been dug into in order to burn from underneath in an attempt to kill the seeds from years of weeds laid dormant in the heap, this task had been repeated several times when the wind and weather were favourable. However on this particular occasion, although the fire appeared to have gone out there must have been a piece of timber still smouldering deep inside because while it was unattended some of the dry timber used for kindling adjacent to the heap caught fire, this spread to more wood and plastic pots and buckets and then the SHED. Tucked away behind bushes and a tree it wasn't noticed till it was too late and despite the heroic efforts of fellow allotment holder it was a goner.. see before and after.
